The terrazzo we create at PIMUX features a special base that replaces cement or resin. This material, called Chimi, is a blend of polymers.

When mixed with water and fibers, the polymers activate, creating a fluid, plastic, and very malleable binding mass. Combined with aggregates and other materials, this mass forms terrazzo, which must be polished and sealed after drying. This makes the terrazzo process slow, artisanal, and unique.
At PIMUX, we chose #Chimi as the base because it offers numerous advantages and is of higher quality. It can be molded and also used as a coating.
It’s easy to work with due to its fluidity and cohesion, filling all spaces, regardless of stone size, and allowing for the inclusion of various elements during construction. Once dry, it becomes extremely hard and solid, forming a structure of its own.

#Chimi allows for the addition of elements like metals, hardwood chips, glass, onyx, Venetian tiles, mother of pearl, bamboo, shells, and even toys. It can also be pigmented, enabling a base of any color.
One of the possibilities it gives us is that it can be molded and also used as a coating.
Its specific weight in powder form is 1000 kg/m³, while terrazzo with Chimi has a specific weight of 2400 kg/m³, depending on the material used.
For in-situ terrazzo work, the base must be suitable, so we recommend consulting our specialists.
